Tonnage Measurement Surveys

IIMS-affiliated marine surveyor Tony Gagliardo provides yacht tonnage measurement for UK Part I and Red Ensign registration: United Kingdom, Isle of Man, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Jersey and Guernsey.

Typical turnaround for established IIMS assignments is 3–5 business days once the required information is complete and measurement has been carried out; allow up to a week where the remaining work is within our control.

New Build & Pre-Delivery Inspections

Appraisal Inspections

These are performed to gather information to justify and determine the fair market value of the vessel.

Damage Inspections

The surveyor can be retained by an insurance company to determine the cause of a loss and determine the extent of loss-related damage.

Sea Trials

An agreed sea trial checks propulsion performance, steering, controls and relevant systems under operating conditions. Findings may identify further testing or specialist mechanical investigation before purchase or acceptance.

Osmosis Testing

Moisture readings and inspection of visible blistering help assess areas that need closer investigation. Readings depend on hull construction, coatings and conditions; they are interpreted with other evidence rather than treated as a diagnosis on their own.

Oil Analysis (spectrometry)

Laboratory analysis of engine oil can identify wear metals and signs of fuel, coolant or water contamination. Results are interpreted alongside the oil’s service history and other findings; sample arrangements and laboratory turnaround are confirmed for the assignment.

Corrosion Analysis

Checks can assess bonding, anode protection and signs of stray-current corrosion. The findings help identify vulnerable underwater metals and whether further electrical investigation or corrective work is needed.
